Welcome!  Thank you for visiting my website and for your concern about our city.

Bellevue’s a great place to live – home to a growing, upbeat and diverse population.  As much of Washington is caught in a downward spiral of unemployment, business closures, and reductions to essential services, Bellevue is marching carefully into its future.

My fierce commitment is to build the teams and do the work to position Bellevue to successfully fight back against recession with sound planning decisions, strategic growth management directions, and inspired community involvement.

Enriching the community where we all live, work and play has long been my focus:

  • Working hard as Chair of the Planning Commission
  • In leadership roles with the Overlake Hospital Foundation
  • As a Trustee of Bellevue College
  • As a proud, hard-working mom on the Somerset PTSA Board
  • On the Board of the Center for Women & Democracy

My reputation, my life has been about crafting solutions with others: identifying the real issues, building consensus, being decisive, and moving projects forward.  My husband Brent and I love this place. We hope to grow old here – we hope our kids will choose to stay here.

When I first ran for City Council four years ago, we were concerned about things like soaring real estate prices.  Now we worry about people losing their homes, their jobs, their lives’ investments. Jobs are being lost and government services threatened. The need for energy and creative thinking from every member of the City Council is far more urgent.  So much has changed over the past 20 years – I think it’s time more of our Councilmembers change as well – the majority has served on the Bellevue City Council for over 10 years or longer!

We are in the midst of great change…but change without fresh ideas, new energy, and a new team is not change at all.  It is a time for listening – our community is filled with great people with good ideas and new perspectives.  It is a time of positive leadership – for shedding entrenched positions and working toward common solutions.

I’m asking for your support, your input, your ideas and your time. Please click on How You Can Help to share your ideas and support.

Thank you!
